Sealing rings and supports are often stored as spare parts for a longer period of time. Most rubbers change their physical properties during storage, resulting in unusable use, for example due to surface hardening, cracking, softening, cracking or other surface degradation. These changes may be the result of individual factors or a combination of multiple factors, such as deformation, oxygen, ozone, light, heat, humidity, or the action of oil and solvents. The rubber seal ring/seal is in the assembled component, it is recommended that the component should be flipped and inspected at least every 6 months. The rubber sealing ring is installed and kept in the assembly. Without checking, the period is the sum of the initial period and the extended period mentioned above. Of course, this will depend on the structure of the component.
Taking some simple measures, the life span of these products can be greatly extended. These standards give some suggestions for the storage and life of elastomers based on the material grade.
The following recommendations are based on certain standards to provide suitable conditions for rubber storage. These recommendations should be followed to maintain the very good physical and chemical properties of the product: The heat storage temperature is recommended to be between +5°C and +25°C, and direct contact with heat sources, such as boilers, radiators and direct sunlight, should be avoided.
If the storage temperature is lower than +15℃, care should be taken to avoid deforming the seals when they are moved at this temperature, because they may have become hard. In this case, before putting them into use, the temperature of the sealing ring should be raised to about +20°C. The relative temperature of the humid storage room should be less than 70%, and very damp or very dry conditions should be avoided to avoid condensation.
